A One-Day Trip to the Charismatic Town of Wonders – Ooty

Ootacamund or ‘Ooty’ is the capital of Nilgiris district, and is famously known as the “Queen of Hill Stations”. The pleasant and cool climatic conditions and stunning picturesque locales have been a favourite with tourists for ages now. Tourists flock over to spend some quality time in this majestic town, away from the daily monotonous chores of life. Tiger Hill: Start your morning in Ooty by a visit to the bewitching Tiger Hill. Trek your way along the hill to reach the topmost point, and watch a rejuvenating sunrise early in the morning. Take a look at the drinking water reservoir that meets the water needs of the town. Head over to the cave located nearby that is believed to be related to religious legends. It is also a magnificent picnic spot, and is usually crowded with families that are in a mood to picnic.

Doddabetta Peak: Located at a distance of just 10kms from the town, a visit to this highest peak is a must. As you make your way along the suburbs to reach the peak you will be enthralled by the natural brilliance of the surroundings. One can even see the hilly terrains of Mysore from this picturesque peak.

Botanical Gardens: The botanical garden is the essence of Ooty. It is the most prized possession of not just the town, but of India as well. Spread along 50 acres of land, this garden is under the maintenance of Government and the Horticulture department. It shelters a wide species of flora including some of the rarest ones.

Ooty Lake: One of the most charming possessions of this majestic hill station is its lake. Cool, pleasant, and refreshing weather adds to the charisma of this splendid lake. This L-shaped lake is a summer treat to tourists, and is an idyllic place for boating. Several boating races are organized in this lake for the entertainment of people. Many tourists also spend a night in one of exquisite boat houses just to experience the pleasure of staying in a boat. Kids can have a gala time in the children park nearby, and can ride on the infamous horses and ponies.
