Archaeological Museum and Portrait Gallery
This place was set up in 1964 and is run by the Archaeological Survey of India. Situated in the convent section of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the museum attracts its fair share of visitors. The displays here are spread out over 8 galleries that include prehistoric Goa, early history of Goa, and Portuguese rule over Goa. Especially, well covered is the Medieval period. Exhibits include pillars, wooden sculptures, postage stamps, daggers, swords, rifles, old inscriptions, and portraits etc.
Ashvek Vintage World
The name Ashvek Vintage World may escape notice, when you look up information on Goa tourism. However, a visit here makes for a pretty gratifying experience, especially if you like the old world charm of vintage cars. Just some of the models that you may see here among others include 1931 Peugeot, 1948 Chevrolet Fleet Master, Rare two-engine Vandall tempo, 1961 Datsun Fairlady, Morris 8, and a 1939 Mercedes 170. The Ashvek Vintage World is said to be the first and only vintage car museum and showroom in Goa.
Goa Science Centre
A division of the National Council of Science Museums(NCSM), the Goa Science Center spans an area of around 5 acres complete with beautiful manicured lawns and a huge park. This place is especially popular amongst families who want to teach their children about the principles of Physics and other scientific trivia in a fun way. Everyday, ‘Science Shows’ are organised for children. Besides the exhibits and ‘Science Shows’, 3-D Film Shows, Taramandal Shows, Science Demonstration Lectures, and Cyberlab Shows etc are held too.
Goa State Museum
The Goa State Museum is located in the EDC Complex in Patto. There are around 8,000 artifacts displayed here such as stone sculptures, bronze work, wooden objects, manuscripts, paintings, numismatic collection, anthropological objects, carvings, and rare coins to name a few. The collection of artifacts and sculptures on Hinduism and Jainism are especially well known. The museum is spread out across as many as 14 galleries.
Naval Aviation Museum
If the armed forces fascinate you, then thanks to Goa tourism, the ‘Naval Aviation Museum’ will definitely make for a rewarding experience. The exhibits here span the developments in the Indian Navy over the years. The museum has two main parts split up into a double storeyed indoor gallery and an outdoor exhibit. This museum is one of the two Military Aviation museums in the country. Exhibits include 13 aircrafts and a host of other defence paraphernalia.
